We will get right to it.
Again I will mention The Gold Collection of Helleborus – The second week of January Pink frost is our pick – blooming January through March.
Another flowering Heath Sibersche blooming white October through May.
If you have kept up with the repeat of a Helleborus and An Erica / Flowering Heath, You may have noticed with these varieties alone you will have added color in your garden from October/November all the way through May.
In addition, many other ideas for interest and color, such as the black Mondo grass with its dark shadow shaking off the snow as it peeks over the gardens edge – Last season’s Hydrangeas that have not been cut back, holding the Victorian like boughs in delicate arches throughout the scenery.
The Paper bark Maple or River Birch both adding a graceful silhouette, giving depth to the landscape as well as tickling the eye with the colorful textures of exfoliating bark –
Depending on the winter and the temperatures sometimes certain things will begin to bloom early or possibly late – that all falls back to phenology – If the winter is too harsh some flowers will stay tucked away to await a warmer day.
There are so many ways to make all 52 weeks interesting in your garden it would almost seem impossible to implement everything – what a wonderland that would be!
I bet if you implement just 20 to 25 of the ideas that we will share over the next 52 week posts– You will have a garden with 52 weeks of bloom and color.
Imagine having something in the garden that makes you smile every week of the year – Now that’s living!!
